The Rongai Route is the only trail that approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the north, along the remote and arid side near the Kenyan border. Known for its peaceful, uncrowded paths, it offers a rare opportunity to see a different face of Kilimanjaro, away from the busier southern routes.
This 7-day trek provides a gradual and steady ascent, making it a great choice for climbers with less trekking experience or those looking for a more relaxed and scenic journey. Although not as lush as the western and southern routes, Rongai’s landscapes are no less beautiful—featuring open moorlands, rugged wilderness, and wide views of the mountain.
The trail merges with the Marangu Route at Kibo Hut for the summit push, allowing trekkers to descend along a different path, completing a rewarding cross-section of the mountain.
