Machame Route Kilimanjaro Climb

Overview , Map, Features & Itineraries

Machame Route
Route Overview:

The Machame Route, famously nicknamed the “Whiskey Route,” is one of the most popular and visually stunning trails up Mount Kilimanjaro. It earned its nickname because it’s considered more challenging and adventurous than the Marangu Route (also called the “Coca-Cola Route”), which is often favored by beginners due to its hut accommodations.
Unlike Marangu, the Machame Route is strictly a camping route, with trekkers sleeping in tents throughout the entire trek, offering a more immersive experience in nature.
This route is known for its diverse and breathtaking scenery, which changes dramatically each day — from lush rainforests and alpine meadows to volcanic landscapes and glaciers.
